Rekha Skantharaja Named One of Business Insurance’s 2018 Women to Watch

We are proud to announce that our president and CEO, Rekha Skantharaja, has been named one of Business Insurance‘s 30 Women to Watch for the year 2018.

In a profile for Business Insurance, Rekha described the early stages of her career, how she came to become Tangram’s president and CEO, and her visions for the future of Tangram. After spending many years working in the insurance industry—beginning with a small directors and officers liability insurance broker—Rekha was named Tangram’s president in 2013, and became CEO earlier this year.

John Tallarida, executive vice president of Heffernan Insurance Brokers—Tangram’s parent company— said of Rekha, “I think she brings a level of professionalism to the business that you usually don’t see all that often. [Rekha’s] level of clarity, passion and focus—that’s really refreshing.”

Business Insurance selects its honorees based on a pool of nominations from its readers, which are then narrowed down by a panel of the publication’s editors. Since 2006, Business Insurance has used its Women to Watch program to honor and recognize female leaders around the world in the commercial insurance and risk management fields who have done outstanding work. A separate program was created in 2017 specifically for women executives in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Today, Women to Watch is the only recognition program that celebrates women leaders throughout the commercial insurance industry, and has since developed into an educational program that not only honors women leaders but also prioritizes the advancement of women in risk management, commercial insurance, and other related fields.
